1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy applies to all information collected or disclosed by you on the BetterState.org.au website (Site) operated by The Labor Council of NSW (Unions NSW or we or us). This Privacy Policy sets out the nature of the information collected by Unions NSW and the use to which we are entitled to use that information. This Privacy Policy has been developed in accordance with the National Privacy Principles of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act).
Unions NSW is committed to protecting the privacy of your Personal Information (defined below in clause 2). Unions NSW regards its obligations under the Privacy Act (Cth) 1988 (the Privacy Act) as extremely important and its actions are directed at complying with the Privacy Act. Unions NSW will not sell, share or otherwise disclose Personal Information collected by us in breach of this Privacy Policy.

2. We May Collect Personal Information
When you register with the Site, you are required to provide certain personal information to Unions NSW as part of the registration process. This information will include a valid email address that you control and may also include your name, occupation, union affiliation (if any), mailing address, gender, age and date of birth. If you are not willing to provide an email address or any other information that is required in order to register as a Member of the Site, then you will not be able to register with the Site.
The above information is collectively referred to as Personal Information in this Privacy Policy.
Unions NSW may also collect non-personal information such as your IP address, the number of visitors and visits to the Site, including the date and time of those visits, the number of pages viewed and navigation patterns. This information is obtained using ‘cookies’ that are often used by websites to identify users computers.
3. How We Store Personal Information
Unions NSW maintains all Personal Information collected from the Site in secure databases and in a web-hosted environment that is fire-walled.
4. How We Use Your Personal Information
We, or our agents or service providers, may use your Personal Information to provide you with services and information offered on the Site.
We, or our agents or service providers, will also use your Personal Information to provide you with services or information that you have requested be provided to you on the Site.
Unions NSW may also use your Personal Information for planning research and strategic or other purposes in relation to services or information offered, or which Unions NSW may offer, on the Site or in its operations or the operations of its members.
5. How We Disclose Your Personal Information
We will disclose your Personal Information to unions that are members of Unions NSW (Member Unions) for the purpose of enabling our member unions to provide you with information pertaining to their campaigns, objectives and operations. Our member unions will use your Personal Information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

6. Direct Mailing
We will use your Personal Information for the purposes of providing you with information, and for the purposes of our Member Unions supplying you with information, about our respective campaigns, issues or unions.
7. Access to Personal Information
If you wish to access the Personal Information about you that are held by Unions NSW, please contact us in writing at privacy@betterstate.org.au. We may ask you to provide proof of identity when making a request and you may be charged an administration fee when we provide you with the information to cover our time and, if posted to you, our postage and handling costs.
If we are unable to provide you with your Personal Information or Digital Personal Information, we will notify you in writing of the reason(s).
8. Updating Personal Information
You should ensure that any Personal Information you provide to Unions NSW is accurate and up-to-date. If you think any Personal Information is not accurate, complete and up-to-date, you may ask us to correct this information. We will take reasonable steps to correct such Personal Information unless we disagree with you about whether the Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
